MigrainesMigraines are throbbing, intense headaches, usually located in one half of the head. Migraine pain often traces a question mark pattern from an area of stiffness in the neck, up to and around the ear to the temples, with pain behind the eye, at the base of the skull and across the forehead. It often comes with nausea and vision disturbances. A neurological and vascular condition, migraine appears to result from a tightening of muscles and their fascia (interconnecting tissues) in the neck and shoulders, and dilation of blood vessels in the brain which then draw together, affecting nearby nerve endings. Underlying and immediate migraine triggers appear to include cheese, chocolate, wine and citrus fruits, stress and anxiety, exercise, loud noise, bright lights, travel, the contraceptive pill and menstrual cycles. Scenar therapy can be very effective in dealing with migraine headaches, both in the short and long term, and its powerful pain relief and common side benefits seem to have almost every aspect of migraines covered. One of the main Scenar zonal protocols is specifically designed for the neck and shoulders where we all tend to store our stress, and where headaches often originate.
